Dr. Nepali Sah holds a PhD in Demography (2011) and a Master of Population Studies (MPS) (2002) from The Australian National University, Canberra, Australia, and a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS), Rampur Chitwan, Nepal. He hails from Siraha in the eastern Terai of Nepal.

Dr. Sah has served as a senior M&E/MERL specialist with several UN and bilateral agencies, including UNFPA Nepal (2018–2021); UNICEF/UNGEI Headquarters (2023–2026), UNICEF Nepal (2016–2018), and UNICEF Ghana (2013–2014); UNDP Liberia (2011); USAID Nepal (2014–2015); the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), Nepal (2015–2016); AusAID Papua New Guinea (2012–2013); and Save the Children (1993–1995 and 1997–2006).

He has also held leadership positions in professional associations, serving as Secretary of the Community of Evaluators–Nepal (2023–2025), Vice-President of the Population Association of Nepal (2016–2019), and Executive Member of the Association of Nepalese Alumni from Australia (2017–2019). He is also the Co-founder and Chairperson of Nexgen Data and Tech Consulting Pvt. Ltd., established in 2026.
