Community of Evaluators Nepal together with other stakeholders of evaluation including National Planning Commission (NPC), some UN agencies and National Parliamentarian Forum on Development Evaluation Policy in Nepal (NPFDEPN) has been engaging in evaluation field building by carrying out evaluative researches, building capacity and supporting for creating enabling environment in evaluation in Nepal. A joint nation annual action plan for evaluation field building was prepared with responsibilities for different stakeholders in 2015. Based on annual action plan, a proposal on Strengthening National Capacity to Evaluate localized SDGs with an Equity focused and Gender Lens was developed jointly by COE Nepal and NPFDEPN in consultation with NPC and submitted to and approved and supported by the International Office for Cooperation in Evaluation (IOCE) through EvalPartners. The proposal has seven major activities including Establishment and Operationalization of Evaluation Resource Centre; Preparation of gender and equity integrated M&E Code of Conduct; development of equity focused gender responsive evaluation framework; National Evaluation Networking Meeting; Review of the M&E Bill from equity and gender lens; Workshop on EvalSDG and equity focused and gender responsive M&E Act, Policies, and Strategies; and Preparation of comprehensive national plan for Eval Agenda (2016-2020).
The later two activities, namely the Workshop on EvalSDG and Preparation of comprehensive national plan for Eval Agenda (2016-2020) planned consecutively for three days from August 21 to 23, 2016.
The purpose of these two activities to organize consecutively is to tailor theory and practice and run activities efficiently by saving the transport cost of experts which would cost more if organized separately.
The overall objective is to contribute to strengthen national capacity to evaluate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with an equity focused and gender lens. The specific objectives are:
- To increase understanding on equity focused and gender responsive EvalSDG and Global Evaluation Agenda 2016-2020
- Prepare workable national evaluation action plan for 2016-2020
