
Community of Evaluators – Nepal (CoE-Nepal) through its Flagship 1 project to build the capacity of the professionals and managers in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) organized the training on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) entitled “Evaluation Perspectives and its Use” targeting primarily mid-level evaluators. The training was organized from 29-31 July 2019 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
This training aims to build the capacity and introduce the evaluation methods and their uses in Nepal through engaged exposure to emerging approaches to the evaluation of development projects, programs, and policies.
The main objectives of the training were to:
- Understand the main approaches and tools for monitoring evaluation
- Understand the NPC guideline of evaluation approaches and know the concept of the theory of change
- Equip with theoretical and practical approaches to evaluation
- Deepen understanding of ethical aspects and code of conduct for evaluations
The three-day professional skill development training comprised the following main components:
Day 1:
• Key components of effective M and E system
• Theory of change, results framework, indicators
• Developing M and E plan
Day 2:
• Norms and standards, OECD DAC criteria, evaluation questions, evaluation matrix
• Impact Evaluation: Challenges and opportunities in the SDG framework
• Methodical approaches: qualitative versus quantitative and mixed methods
Day 3:
• Effective use of evaluation: Management response to evaluation
• GESI evaluation methods and tools
• Evaluation ethics and Code of Conduct
